Six items is the maximum the council will take in a single booking, and only the items listed on your order are collected — anything extra left out on the day is left behind.

Croydon Council collects from outside the property only. Items need to be placed in front of the home, or in another easily accessible spot, the night before the scheduled collection day — not on the morning itself. Where a property has steps, items should be brought down to pavement level, and everything must be within about 10 metres of where the collection vehicle can stop, without blocking the public highway.

The council's crew only loads items that two workers can lift and carry, which is consistent with why nothing is brought out from inside — you need to move everything outdoors yourself beforehand. This is a household service for items from Croydon homes; business and commercial waste is arranged separately.

Bulky waste payments are non-refundable once booked. You can amend a booking up to two working days before the collection date, and cancel up to one working day before.
