Clearance and rubbish removal in New Addington
New Addington sits on its own plateau about 4.9 miles and twenty-three minutes from our base, up against the Surrey boundary.
The estate was built as one project from 1935 onwards, with Fieldway added through to 1968, so the housing is consistent and mostly straightforward to work in.
The exception is anything older that may still contain asbestos-containing material from the early prefabricated homes — if you think that applies, tell us, because we will not move it without knowing and it changes how the job is planned.
Access is much better since Tramlink arrived in 2000, but it is still a plateau with limited routes, so we plan for one complete visit rather than a quick look and a return.
The council's Fishers Farm Reuse and Recycling Centre on North Downs Road is the nearest tip and is right here in New Addington — handy for a car load, less so for a full flat or house.
Typical work for us here is end-of-tenancy clearances, family home clear-outs, garden rubbish and bulky furniture and white goods collection.

Local knowledge
What makes a New Addington clearance different
New Addington sits about five miles south-east of Croydon, right up against the Surrey boundary, on a plateau of its own. The ward recorded 10,801 residents at the 2011 census, with 22,280 across the New Addington and Fieldway built-up area.
It was built as a single project rather than growing outward. The First National Housing Trust bought 569 acres in 1935 for a garden village of 4,400 homes; 1,023 houses and 23 shops were up by 1939 when the war stopped work, and Croydon added a further 1,412 by 1968, which is how Fieldway became its own estate.
Some of the earliest houses were prefabricated — corrugated cement asbestos panels on a bolted steel frame — before being replaced with brick two-storey homes in the 1960s. If you are in an older property and think there may be asbestos-containing material in it, tell us: that is not something we will move without knowing about it first, and it changes how the job is planned.
The estate was historically isolated enough that residents nicknamed it Little Siberia, with limited road access and patchy buses until Tramlink route 3 arrived in 2000. Access is better now, but it is still a plateau with few ways on and off, so we scope a job here properly and clear it in one visit rather than making repeat trips.

What happens to the waste after a clearance in New Addington
At 4.9 miles and roughly 23 minutes from our base, the onward route is worked out before the van is loaded rather than after. Anything still usable is kept separate as we go, and only what is genuinely finished with goes to a household recycling centre.

We cannot promise any particular shop will accept a given item — that is always their call on the day — but sorting for reuse first is how we keep as much as possible out of the skip.

01Do you come out to New Addington and Fieldway regularly?
Do you come out to New Addington and Fieldway regularly?
Yes. It is further than most of the borough at around twenty-three minutes each way, which is exactly why we plan the job to be done in one trip.
02There is an asbestos garage roof on my property. Can you take it?
There is an asbestos garage roof on my property. Can you take it?
Tell us before we quote. Suspected asbestos-containing material is handled differently from general clearance waste, and we will be honest about what we can and cannot take.
03Fishers Farm is nearby — why not just use the tip?

For a car boot's worth, do. For a flat clearance, bulky furniture or anything you cannot lift, we do the loading, the trips and the disposal.
04Can you get a van close to the door?

On most estate roads, yes. Where parking is allocated or tight we plan a short carry rather than assume.
